Mario Kart World — Switch 2 Buying Guide
Mario Kart World is the launch racer for the Nintendo Switch 2 and the first mainline Mario Kart built for a brand-new console. It leans into an open, connected world you can drive across, plus a new Knockout Tour eliminat-race format.
Editions and what you get
- Standard digital — the full game, always installed on your console
- Bundle with console — often the first place a discount appears, since retailers cut the bundle even when the standalone stays at list
- Physical cartridge — resellable, but takes a slot and needs the disc swapped
Digital vs physical on Switch 2
As a launch title, Mario Kart World sits at list price for a long time — Nintendo first-party games rarely drop early. The smartest saving is usually a console bundle rather than waiting for a standalone cut. If you already own the console, the digital version is the most convenient way to play immediately.
