Zelda: Breath of the Wild — Still Worth Buying in 2026?
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reinvented the open-world formula and remains one of the best-selling Switch games ever. Even with Tears of the Kingdom out, BotW is the better starting point for most new players.
Why it still matters
- Massive open world — climb, glide, and explore with almost no hand-holding
- Cheaper than ever — years past launch, it sits in Nintendo's budget "Selects" range
- Great first Zelda — if you've never played one, this is the friendliest entry
Editions and DLC
The base game is enough for most. The Expansion Pass adds a harder mode and a sizable post-game chapter; buy it only if you finish the main story and want more. Watch for the bundled "Special Edition" only if the extras appeal to you.
